Future Work Discussed By Beautifying Society
A, well attende'd meeting oi members of the eommittee of Ihe Levin and . Ehsfrict Beautifying Society was he.d on Monday evening, Mr. H. B. Burdekin presiding. The newly appointed members nominatedi by the Leviii Junior Chamber of Commerce, Messrs P. R. Sissons and S. R. Foster, were welcomed by(' the chairman. The Levin Borough Cauncil advise'd. that the- society had. been granted a day. in September for a street appeal,' and it was decided to cond-uet it" ori Friday, September 23. "As four y.ears will have elapsed •since the society's last appeal, it is hoped that there, will be a ready restponse by friends and well' wishers, Mr. it. J. Sweetzer was eleeted .secretary-^treasurer in succession to Mr. C. S. Black, who resigned. A number of future ac'hvities were suggested and it is. evident that the society will have much to occupy its. attension in the coming year. Meanwhile. mention may be made of some of its various activi•ties. Playford Park: Here, the Junior" Chamber has already done a great deal of work. The society also desires to eo-operate wi,h the Playford Park Dornain Boar/d in its. beautiheation nrojects. 'Cambridge Street Triangle: From. the northern and southern ap-proache-s to Levin, the planting of trees and other improvement work to unsightly corners can be carried out. Arbour Day: Arrangements will be made in good time for the usual Arbor'Day eelebrations in coniunction wiuh the Levin Borough Council.
