W.C.T.U. Holds Enjoyable Social Afternoon
The Levin braiieh of the Women'f Christian Temperance Union rev ently held a most successful and pleasant social afternoon. ' Thc pre fident, Mrs. A. C. Kennerley presided and extended a cordia] welcome to a-1 present, making special mention of a visitor from Hawera and Major F elcher, of the Salvation Army. Much 'appreciated vocal duetf weve rendered bv Mesdames Devine and Fletcher. while the delegate tr hj convention. Mrs. Trotmen, gave some impressions of her first atendance at such a gathering. Sht a'so gave a comprehensive and in■eresting renort on the business oi the meeting. The splendid convention number. "The White Ribbon," was recommended to all in terested in temperance work. Every member shouid make a point- o: ""•ecuring a copy and passing it on co a friend. so that it might be as wide^ read as possible. Good business was done by c -Tes tab'e in charge1 of Mrs. Williams. The hostess; Mrs. Plaster who was acsbsted bv Mrs. Burnham, dispensed afternoon tea, for which die was accorded a vo,'e of thanxs; The president expressed her thanke to all who had he'lped to make the afternoon a success.
