Girl Dragged By Train Is Seriously Injured

NEW PLYMOI7TH, April 11.
Slipping . from the Auck-land-Now Plvmouth express train as it moved from the Inglewood station this morning, a 19-year-old girj, Erice Lvon, daughter of Mrs. C. O. Lyon, of Waitui, was dragged between a earriage and the platform and severely injured before being thrown clear. Her injuries were a laeerated scalp, compound fracture of the right leg, dislocated 1^'t ankle, fracture of the left leg and shock. She was. admitted to the New Plymouth Hospital where her condition tonight was reported to be serious. Miss Lyon attempted to board the last earriage of the train with a suitcase and handbag. She lost her f ooting but clung to the earriage handrail and was dragged two earriage lengths. The locomotive driver was unaware of the accident and the train did not stop.
