WELLINGTON, April 11. A saving of 3(55,000 units was recorded in the consumption of eleetric powoi in the North Lsland last week. The allocation for the week was 31,817,000 units, and consumption amounted to 31,452,000 units. This was 1.15 per eent. below the allocation. The Electricity Controller, Mr. A. E. Davenport, stated that although consumption remained below allocation, the fall in the lake levels continued, due to the lack of rainfall. The level of Taupo fell during the week from 1175.3 feet to 1174.95 feet, and that at Waikaremoana dropped from 2000.2 feet to 1999.9 feet. The dams at Mangahao were half full today whereas the week previously they were prac.t1callv empty. The week's rainfall at Taupo amounted to .41 inches, at Waikaremoana to .3(5 inches and at Mangahao to 2.13 inches. Discussing the South lsland position, Mr. Davenport stated that hydraulic conditions were still satisfactory and a further addition had been made to the storage available.
