Rugby Executive Has Its First Meeting
The first meeting of the management committee of the Horowhenua Rugby .Union , was held on Tuesday night. The newly-elected chairman, Mr. R. L. Robinson, welcomed those present and expressed the "hope that the season would run smoothly. He mentioned the fact.that rugby was on.the upwara trend in the - district, adding that indications were that a very successful season was ahead of the union. The queslion of a deputy to replace a delegace who is unable to attend a meeting was discussea and, on the motion of Mr. E. J. Cook, it was decided that provided prior notice had been given to the secretary, Mr. J. E. Fullarton, a de'puty could be sent to any meeting. This matter is covered by rule 10. It was decided to play the annual Maori-jrakeha match at Shannon this year during the Shannon School and Shannon Football Cmb jubi'ee celebrations. It" was recommended that the union allocate a representative match to' Foxton to replace this game. Following a discussion on the difficulties experienced by some players in obtaining entry to a ground, it was decided to a'lot 2„ players' passes to each club for each team. The clubs will be responsible for these passes. April 23 is the date set for the commencement of the competitions and nominations of teams wih close on Tuesday, April 12. Mr. A. Ha ey, togetl^er with the secrelary and a member of the Referees' Association, wid act as the fixtures committee. For representative games, the president and vicepresident will also be members of the committee. The committee appointed Mr. W. Anderson to the Referees' Appointments Board.
