Despite difficulties experienced i n securing supplies " of ammunition, the satisfactory credit balance of £50 6s lld existed, commented the .secretary of the Levin . Miniature Rifle Club, M!r: M. F. Fletcher, at itS annual meeting last night. The club had been successful in winning both the B and C grade shields in the Horowhenua Rifle Associattion's competitions. The president^ Mr. M. deL. Wright, also commented on the successful season, and he wished all members one as happy an'd successful in the coming year. ' Two letters were received from sports goods firms advising the club that stocks of .22 calibre ammunition would be arriving in the country in time for the coming season. ' The secretary reported that with 6000 rounds on hand and orders placed . for a further 40,000 rounds; there would be no necessity to secure more. It appeared as if the ammunition prob'em would not be as acute as was the case last year, commented the president. Insurance Scheme. Reporting on the annual meeting of the associati'on, one of the delegates, Mr. M. F. Fletcher, said. that an insurance scheme had come into being whereby both the members and public were protected in the event of accidents. The policy would cost ls per member and was
a public- risk scheme with a cover of up to £5,000 at any one time. 1 Actually, the club had been 'pushing matter for some time, he commented. It was decided to join the scheme. A remit had come forward from the Poroutawhao club asking that the Bebbington Shield be taken over by the association, and that challenges be issued through it, Mr. F.etcher continued. A decision had been made in favour of this, but the association wished clubs to ffiscuss the rules cf the competi- . tion. Grading of Teams. ' At the meeting, there had. been a great deal of discussion over the giading of teams, said Mr. Fletcher. It had been suggestefl ' that a slandard grading should be set for each grade, to be taken on an avefage over the last ten club shoots in the previous year. . This meant that a club would have to go over its membership and list i'.s teams. However, it was to give the weaker clubs a tetter chance. "it cculd happen that one c'ub had to put more than one team in any grade and drop another altogether. Delegates had not been prepaxed to make a decision on this matter until it had been discussed by their respective clubs. After some short discusibn, it was decided to give delegates power to support the proposal. a n Officers Elected. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron: Mr. T. A.
