Rifle Club's Move To Obtain Its Own Range

, Seeking its own accommodation for rifle shoo s, the Levin Miniature Rifle Club last night further discusscd rhe possibility of joining with the Levin Boy Scout Committee in building a hall wLh a rifle range beneatn. A quarter-acre section has been made available in Playford Park for this purpose following representations by the two bodies to the Levin Borough Council. | At the meeting a member of the 1 sub-comipittee set up to go into the matter, Mr. A. Fletcher, report6d that the council had approved the scheme. It had been considered that two rows of piles in a straight line down the centre of the excavation would allow three series of three mounds to be put into operation. Had any estimate been made of , the approximate cost? asked the patron, Mr. T. A. Burling. The scouts would assist with a certain amount of material and labour, but a sum of money would have to be found and labour given by the club, replied the president, Mr. M. deL. Wright. It was poinfced out by Mr. Fletcher that the hall would helong to the council and would be leased in perpetuity at a nominal sum. He suggested that if finance was needed, then the club shorid raise it by means of debentures among its own members. These could be redeemed by ballot. It was decided that the scheme be approved and the committee thanked for the work it had dnnp
