Council Perpetuates Memory Of Former Mayor

The new street in- the block of State houses under construction in Winchester Street is to be pamed Goldsmith Crescent in memory of the late Mr. P. W. Goldsmith, who was Mayor of Levin from 1932 to 1941 and who gave a lifetime of outstanding sei-vice to the borough. This was decided at Monday night's 'meeting of the Levin Borough Council. The suggestion was made by ' Cr. R. A. Frederikson, who said he understood that in his early days in Levin the late Mr. Goldsmith had resided in that locality. "It is a very nice suggestion," commented the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burd8kin. "It will perpetuate the memory of one who did a great deal for Levin over a long period of years."
