Britain Helping Siam To Preserve Order
Received Tuesday, 10.10 a.m. LONDON, April 4. The Foreign Under-Secretary, •Mr. C. P. Mayhew, told the House of Commons today that Britain is selling sufficient arms to the Siamese Government to complete the equipment of five infantry battalions stationed in Southern Siam. The agreement for this transaction had been reached through the norma! diplomatic channels, Mr. Mayhew adued. The Siamese baftalions woind use these arms ip preserve order on the SiameseMalayan frontier in co-operation with the security fprees in the Ma ay Fedetouion. Mr. Mayhew said that the Brjtish Government has also o'ffered to supply a small quantity of equipftient and arms for Siamese poliee units co-operating with the Briash, security forces in the border area.
