Judging by values at- the- third Christchurch wool sale - to'day, the golden times are over for growqrs, All, classes of fine wool were .from 4d to 6d per lb. cheaper over the early stages of the s^le. a.ud the demand generally was reatricted. Tne first signs of a recession. iri fine wool values was noted at the February sale, wh.ere there was a steadying fqr me'dium grades-1 of ha.lf-'bre.d Merino and Corriedale; leaving the super weols unaffected. Since then the ,easing has bqcome general and althougn there were few lots of super wool in for ta--» day's sale, it took excellent wool. to make over 5&d. Top price for the morning was 68!-d for a line of Merino,. c.ompare'd with the record' price 0f 33d i.n February. From the. start. it was app'a'rent that buyers were operating on a much more mOderate scaie. The offering totalled 30,291 bales. - Wool tliat in February reached 45d without difficulty today had a hard time to exceed 40d. The lowest prices heard for many years were a bid and accepted 12ft for Merino locks and Ud for threequarter bred. • '
