Rugby Union's New President Is Mr. R. L. Robinson
The election of ..officers at last night's annual meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union resulted as follows: — Patrpn; Mr. . F. S, Easton; president: Mr. R, L. Robinson; vice-president: Mr. T. Winiata; . management committee: Messrs. L. Coulter (Shannon), F. Juno (Old BoysD, A, Watt (Rahui), W. Anderson (Athletic) , J. MacDonald (Punahau),' W. Howell (Paraparaumu) , L. Mattar (Foxton) , E. J. Cook (Otaki) , D. J. Oliver (Hui Mai), R. Cochrane (Awahau), G. Stevenson (Tokomaru), A. iShort (WandererS), N. Grigg (Waikanae) and A. V. ChapI pell (Horowhenua College) ; hon. auditor: Mr. J. Corbishley; hgn. solicitors: Messrs. Blenkhorn and Todd; delegates to N.Z.R.U. : Messrs. R. L. Robinson and T. Winiata; insurance account trustees: Messrs. T. Winiata, R. L. Robinson and J. E. Fullarton; hon. treasurer: Mr. A. Haley; secretary: Mr. J. E. Fullarton. By a recent amendment to the new rules each club is represented on the management committee. Thanking tne meeting for electing him as president, Mr. Robinson said he considered it a great honour to hold xuch a positon. He thanked the retring president, Mr. A. Gillespie, for all he had done in the past for rugby football, remarking that he had put all his energy into its promotion, not on'.y in this district but throughout the country. Mr. .Robinson asked the meeting to place ori record its appreciation of Mr. Gillespie's services. Mr. Gillespie thanked him for the tribute and said that he fr.lt Mr. Robinson would* do his best to help the game. He appealed to all present to stand behind their new president.
