Fblluwing the improvement noted at the recent Napier sale, the marxet at the third Wellington wool sale todiay hsid1 a more buoyant tone :han at the February fixture and j prices for better class crossbred | showed -a definit-e firming. Russian lompetition for finer grades of crossbred, which helped harden prices at Napier, was again an in.luence today andi with the help of sustained COntinental competition, which was a major factor in the demand, there was! a so-lid and satisfactory tone. Bradford mills were quieter than usual anH there was not a great deal that appealed co local mills. The offering totalled ju&t over 2700 bales. The best of lambs' wool •sold1 at 32d to 36id, t'he latter price .jeing paid! for a lirie of Southdown, ^iner grades of crossbred1 brought from about 30d to 34d. Medlum crossbred made aroun-di 25d' to 26£d and better class hogget wools from iuid to 32d. Tod shabbier wools sbld from about 20di to 23d. Top price of the morning was 45£d for a line- of reclassed Southdown, A imaller lot reclassed halfbred brought -44d and good! classing fine crossbredl 38fd.
