Rugby Ranking For 1948
WELLINGTON, March 23. Three of the All Blacks who are :o tour South Africa, one who was selected but wit'hdrew from the u&am, and a part-Maori who was ineligible for the South African iour 'owing to the colour ba-r, have been chosen as the" five rugby players of 1948 in the "New Zealand Rugby Almanac'k" annual. They are J. C. Kearney, five-eighths; W. \. Meates, wing-threequarter, and R. A.- Dalton, back row forward (all of Otago), who- are to tour South Africa, N. D. • Bevan (Wellington), A 1 Black scrum halfback to Australia in 1947 who .was ineligible to
tour south Atnca, and W. G. Argus TCanteiibury), 2nd N.Z.E.F. and All Black winger who Withdrew from the South African tour 'because of family and business reasons. The five most promising players ! making their fir-s-t appearance as i rapresentatives last season are lamed as B. W. Beazley (North Auckland), K. C. Stuart (Canteroury), John Hotop (Bush), G. F. rurner (Nelson) andi G. M. Bryant ( Horo whenua) .
