Two armed bandits forced the crew of an express tr'ain to pull into a siding near Martinsburg, W est Virginia, robb.ed "all piassengers numbering about 200, and eseaped-in a stolen car. The bandits then visited a near-. by night club where they staged a second hold-up. After robbing the till and patrons, they escaped in another car. . The bandits boarded the train bound from Baltimore to Ohio, as passengers and stopped it at a lonely spot by forcing the crewmen at revolver. point, to apply the emergency brake. When the diesel locomotive crew investigated the stoppage, they were forced back into the cab and compelled to back the train into a siding where the robbers went systemntically through all compartvents. Some passengers locked themselves in the club car and the bandits fired to make them open the door. A bullet struck the train ehef in the leg and a passenger and ffiree crewmen were slugged with revolver butts when they tried to resist. None of the injured needed more than first aid U'eatment.
