Centre Manager's Community Service Recognised

■ That the Levin Junior Chamber of Commerce recognises the value of the service rendered to the community by Mr. E. J. Stanley and members of the staff and the boys of the Weraroa Training Centre was made clear when, at the annuai meeting of that body on Tuesday night, Mr. Stanley was elected an honorary member of the chamber. Glowing tributes were paid to Mr. Stanley by the Chamber 's retiring president, Mr. N. Tnornley, in his remarks prior to pinning the JC badge on the recipient. Mr. Thornley saiTrTTlaTnWf. Stanley's work in the community was the realisation of the J.C. ideals and motto of "Fellowship, Education, Service and Action." He would stress that the centre was doing what it was entitled to do, said Mr. Staffiey in repiy. As a training centre, its duty was t: inculate in the boys a s6nse of civic pride. ,This had been obtained by the co-operation of the citizens and >in particular the Levin Junior Chamber. He wou'd like to say that he was not the only one responsible, commented Mr. Stanley, adding that he had a very fine .staff and group of boys. He wo*ld accept .tbe honour conferred on him on their behalf. ! Other speakers to' pay tribute to Mr. Stanley's work were the newlyelected president, Mr. R. S. Long and a former president, Mr. D. J. Sweetzer. .
