Officials Set High Standard In Conduct Of Athletic Club's Annual Open Meeting
Congratulations are due this week to the Levin Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club on the excellent manner in which it conducted its meeting on Saturday. Approximately 1200 p'ersons attended the funqtion and the competitors were from many parts of the North Island. All events were run off to schedule, reflecting high credit on the field officials. Levin certainly set a high standard in the conduct of a meeting of such magnitude, and outside comment was considerable. A man in a high public position told a "Chronicle" reporter later that the meeting was the best conducted he had seen in his wide experience of public gatherings, and those who attended were obviously appreciative also.
Congratulations Mr. W. Cribb (president), and your committee and helpers, on a really • grand , show. There was only one thing lacking, however, and that was the numerical strength of local competitors. Surely in a town - of Levin's size there are more young athletes and cyclists. It's a good sport and there is plenty of variety, good companionship and beneficial exercise to be derived from membership of such an organisation, so rally round and help make this .season the best ever.
