NAVAL RATINGS SUFFER BURNS

AUCKLAND, Jan. 30. A fire, followed by an explosion. broke out in a small pumping shed at Motuihi Island near the naval traininc station I-I.M.N.Z.S. Tamaki, tonight Six ratings who were standing near thi blaze received mindr burns when a drum of oil fuel exploded. They were taken to the naval hospital on the island and none is in a serious condition. A fire party was called out when the fire began but thg blaze had gained eueh a strong hold in a fresh breeze, that it was impossible to save the structure. However, the men were able to prevent the flames from spread ing.
