Central Police Station today tliat a nmn had been seriously injured in the Imsh country about 40 miles from Ilanmer Springs, an aircraft left tlie Air Force station .at Wigraiu with an Air Force doctor. The injured man is Artliur J. Harclav, deer culler employod by the Department of Internal Affairs. lle received his injuries when he came off the horse he was riding. One foot caught iu the stirrup and" he was dragged some distance and trampled on. The jiolice received the report sliortly after noon that the accident had happencd altout 8 a.m. Thev got in toueh with Wigram and a Tiger JMoth aircraft piloted by Flight Lieutenant J. P. O 'Donnell and with him Flight Lieutenant. 11. J. Croke, assistant medieal offieer at Wigram, loft for Ada Station. The taircraft landed in a' paddock and Dr. Croke then had to ride about two miles over difficult country to reach the injured man. The horse the doctor rode was the one from which Barclav had failen earlier in tlie day. Because of Barclay's condition he could not be brought to Christchurch by aircraft. After he received medical atteution he was placcd under the eare of a trained nurse, the wit'e of an employee at tlie station. The aircraft returued to Wigram at 5.50 p.m., and at 7.30 p.m. a Ilarvard aircraft piloted bv Flying OJlicer L. Burch left for Ada Station to drop a package containing penicillin. This aircraft returned to Wigram abont 8.45 p.m. Tomorrow it corulitions perinit an Auster aircraft will be liown to Ada Station to bring ihe injured man to the Christchurch Public llospital. If it is not possible to bring him out tomorrow the aircraft will be fiown tliere on Suuday.
