Sharp Rise In Marriage Rate At Otaki
The .figures furnished * by the registrar of births, * deaths and marriages at Otaki, Mr. C. G. Anderson, show that 70 marliage notices were issued for 1948, compared with 47 for the previous year. For. the same period birth notiflcations were fewer, 167 Europeanand 39 Maori births being notified, a^ against 185 and 26 respectively in 1947. Death notices also were fewer, 12 European and 6 Maori .compared with 22 and 3 lyFor the final quarter. October to December, 66 births, six deaths and eight marriages were recorded, while for the final month of the year there were 25 births and four marriages.
