Outstanding Runner To Visit Otaki

An attraction at the sports meeting at the Otaki Domain on Saturday will be the Christchurch champion, D. Batten, who has advised the Otaki Amateur Athletic Club that he intends being present. Batten visited Otaki two years ago and since then he has performed with credit when pitted against runners of the calibre of'Treloar, the Australian crack sprinter, D. Harris, N.Z. Olympic runner, and others. Cycle races hever fail to create great interest and several outstanding visitors will be competing on Saturday for an outstanding array of trophies. The general public can look forward to some high class contests. The secretary of the local club, Mr. O. B. Nilsson, advises that reeord entries have been received and everything points to the club being compensated for the ill-luck experienced last year, when the annual meeting had to be abandoned &n account of the prevailing epidemic., There is little doubt that the club is doing a vast amount of good for its members, visitors and the general public by its progressive policy, and it is hoped that the coming meeting will be an outstanding success, both in gate receipts and by the performances of those competing. Trophies will be presented at a dance to be held in the Te Horo Hall at night.
