Personal Mr. W. A. Calwell, of Otaki, has been appointed a Justice of the Peace. Mrs. D. Boyle, of New Plymouth, is visiti-ng Mr. and Mrs. W- J- Kendrick, Kirk Street. # Mr. and Mrs. J. Mason, who have disposed of their business, intend to live in retirement in Otaki. The death oecurred on New Year's Day, at Wellington, * of Mr. H. Roberts, father of Mrs. E. Fogden, Tasman Road, Otaki. Shoals of Kahawai Great shoals of kahawai have been passing up and .down the beach quite close inshore at Paraparaumu, and are a great sight as they churn the water. Thousands of gulls have been busy wheeling and diving in their efforts to catch the fish as they.swim past.
