Women Chase Intruder
AUCKLAND, Jan. 3. . Plucky • aetions by a young woman member of the staff and the proprietress of a private hotel in Khyber Pass in the early hours of Saturday morning led to the arrest of a man alleged to have been found unlawfully on the premises. Waking at 3.45 o'eloclf on Saturday morning, the young woman saw a man in stoekinged-feet, his shoes wrapped in his coat under his arm, slowlv edging his way along the path toward the building. After watching him for some minutes, the woman threw open her bedroom -window and jumped tc the path. The intruder ran through the front door into 'the hotel, but being unable to find an exit made a dash for the way he had come. Tn his rush to eseape he knocked over the young woman. By this time the proprietress had been awakened by the noise and, clad only in her night attire, accompanied* by the hotel employee, she gave chase. On reaching the road they found that a policeman who was in the area on his beat at the time had also joined in the chase, A man was subsequently arrested.
