AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. Tliree internal flights and anqther to Norfolk- Island were • canceiled when most of the main airfields in the Nortli Island were closed to trafhc by low cloud and poor visibility today. At various times in the day Whenuapai,. Hamilton, New Plymouth, Paraparaumu, /tauranga and Onerahi were shut and where flights were not aitogetlier canceiled they were delayed for up to three hours. Inconvenience to passengers was avoided to a certain extent by National Airways officials being able to notify them before they left Auckland for Whenuapai. All aircraft were booked to their full capacity, and it is estimated that about 300 passengers were involved in the delays. About 50 suffered as a result of the cancellations of flights, but all were litted in either to travel at a later date or to go by roud or rail. Passengers on the North Auckland service whose aircraft was due to take olf early tlris afternoon went on to their destinations by road.
