Levin Shops Enjoy Brisk Christmas Trade
Retailers in Levin are in agreei ment that there is an even greater amoynt of buying being done this Christmas than last. There jappears to be a wider range of goods on the market in all lines and many of these articles ,.are cheaper and of better quality. i "Business at present is very : good and we* have hopes of some good saies this Christmas," commented one retailef yesterday. He said that people tended to buy ■ | an article of better qU'allty, even though . in some cases they ha'd to jpay a little more for it. , I' Most shops have-a greater vari- : ety of Christmas decor ations than . those evidenced during the War. It ,was the opinion of one shopkeeper that this may have resulted from the postponement of the Royal tour. He pointed out that many of the decorations prepared for the tour could have • been converted for Christmas hangings. With the liftihg 'of rationing, said a butcher, people would have ! a greater range of meats than for some years. However, he did not expect any greater rush thari in previous Christmas holidays.
