Softball Team To Tour Australia
WELLINGTON, Dee. 7. The council of the New Zealand Softball Assoeiation has appointed Mr. C. Newton Hood as manager of tho women 's -team to tour Australia next March. Mrs. Hood will aecompany tho team as a chaperon. The eoach will bo appointed on January 8. This team will make the first overseas tour by a softball side from tho Dominion and the assoeiation confidently expeets the girls selected will moro than hold their own with their Aus tralian and South African opponenta The team will be selected during tho national tournament to be held in Wellington from January 5 to 8. The eouneil also announees that the inter-island selectors for the men's major fixture to be played at the Hutt Valley on February are: — Messrs. R. Dormer (Waikato, eonvener), B. Hyland (Rotorua), and L. A. Moyle (Wanganui) for the North Island team and Messrs. T. Shields (Canterbury, eonvener), C. Eden (South Canterbury) and P. J. Dymand (Otago) for tho South Island team.
