WELLINGTON, Dec. 5. " The first award of the kind in New Zealand eovering aetors who are members. of Actors' Equity *of New Zealand, has been approved by the Court of Arbitration. It embodies the terms arrived at in; Coneilijition Council. The principal elauses of the award provide that a week's work shall be not more than eight performanees, 80 hours a f ortnight to be worked within the six days, Monday to Saturday inelusive, for musical eomedy, grand opera, drama, comedy or comic opera. For a vaudeville revue or pantomine presentation not more than 12 performanees shall be worked in six days, Monday to Saturday inelusive. Minimum rates of pay are £6 15s aweek for an actor, £6 7s 6d for an aetress, £6 6s for a male in a chorus or ballet and £5 10s for a female in' a chorus or ballet. Casnal workers employed for less than eight performanees shall be paid not less than one-eighth> pro rata of the weekly wage, plus 12$ per cent. Where a eompany is established to tqur, £2 5s a week shall be added to the minimum rates as a touring allowance.
