" Received Monday, 11.5 a.m. SHANGHAI, Dec. 5. Steamers and tugs today continued the rescue and salvage work at the scene of the Kiangya wreck, about 15 miles outside the mouth of Shanghai Harbour. The Press and public continue to speculate regarding the number of casualties with estimates ranging from 200 to 3000. One rescue -vessel estimated the casualties at "probably between 200 and 300." Over 1000 of those rescued already have reached Shanghai, while of about 1600 stifl missing many are thought to have landed at nearby points. The owners of the Kiangya claimed that "nine out of every ten passengers were saved." The Kiangya is now almost submerged, with only its funnel protruding above the water.
