The results from the use of these byproducts of atomic energy, showed no beneficial effeet upon either plant quality or growtli. The use of these ma terials woubl be studied further in 1949. Scientists of the department emphasised that the experiments should not' be confused witli "tests using radioactive iso topes as traeers in the study of soils fertilisers and the nutrition of plants, as radioactive isotopes w.ere proving valuable as a research tool.
