AMENDED PLACINGS FOR THE EMPIRE HANDICAP

Jackie Guy, who won the Empire Handicap at Addington on the first day, has been disqualified by t'ne stipendiary stewards, and his driver (G. S. Smith), for gross carelessness and incompetent driving, has had his driving license suspended until July 31. The sieiwards added a recommendation to the New Zealand Trotting Association that his driving licence be not renewed. This action was taken after an inquiry into a mishap in the race in which Checkmate was brought down. The placings now are: 7-7 PreEminence, 1; 13-13 Logan Rey, 2; 2-2 Final Count, 3. The dividends, which were held up, will now be paid on the amended placings.
