Highland Fling went without a pacemaker and he was timed to cover the distance in 1.59 2-5, which e.quailed the record. Highland Fling covered his first halfmile in 58 4-5sec., six furlongs in 1.29 2-5, and he came on to finish in 1.59 '2-5.
