Mrs. Krivan presided over , an excellent attendance at the 'October meeting of the Opiki Womeri's Institute. A welcome was extended to Mesdames McNab and Aitcheson, who were proposed as new members. During the afternoon Mr. Hollows, of Palmerston No'rt'h, gave a most interesting talk on chrysanthemum culture and also showed coloured films. ■ The competitions next month will be three plain scones, the best bloom, a cluster, three stalks of rhubarb, and a presentation box.. The hostesses will be Mesdames Edkin and Watt and Miss Phillips.
