Opiki W.I.'s Meeting
Mrs. Krivan presided over , an excellent attendance at the 'October meeting of the Opiki Womeri's Institute. A welcome was extended to Mesdames McNab and Aitcheson, who were proposed as new members. The "motto for the day was, "A fool may ask for mbre questions than a wise one eares to answer." The correspondence was read by the secretary. Members were also asked tb bi'ihg- "along gifts *to be given to Mrs. Penketh for the hospital. Further arrangements for the dispaly at the A. and P. Show were eompleted. The roll call, "Uses for old newspapers," bought forth many unusual suggestions. Mrs. Krivan was asked to demonstrate cake icing at the November meeting. During the afternoon Mr. Hollows, of Palmerston No'rt'h, gave a most interesting talk on chrysanthemum culture and also showed coloured films. ■ The competitions next month will be three plain scones, the best bloom, a cluster, three stalks of rhubarb, and a presentation box.. The hostesses will be Mesdames Edkin and Watt and Miss Phillips.
