Otaki Home And School Association
Between 50 and 60 persons attended the monthly meeting of the Home and School Association,: which was neld in the Otaki State School rooms on Thursday night. It took the form of a card and social evening, and two groups were formed, approximately half of the attendance in each group. A variety programme was offered those who attended tne social, games and items creating _ much enjoyment. Cpmniunity ..singing, led by' Mr. A. LurnleY, in which all joined, a rope-reia-y, a humorous item, a "car" .compe.tition, a bas- ; ketball. game, solos. by Miss D. Avery, Miss Aroha Roiri and Miss Weno Tahiwi, a pillow relay game, a musical quiz and finally ice hockey all heiped to provide an entertaining evening. AccompaniSts were' MK3- Bartholomew and Miss Tahiwiy and Miss J. Lumsden was awarded the prize for the "car" competition. Mrs. W. Herbert was the winner of the musical quiz and Mr. Eades the basketball game. Card games wei'e keenly contested and the various winners were— Mrs. Dmnison, Mrs. E. Smith (after a c.ut with Mrs. R. Bills) , Mrs. Parrant,. Mr. E. Edgell and Mr. E. Wilson. A collection to assist in providing funds for a film strip for the school resulted in the sum of £5 beina made available.
