More Manufactures Should Be Exported
WELLINGTON, Nov. 4. The development of New Zealand 's export trade in manufactured goods, is to be urged upon the Government by the NeW Zealand Manufacturers' Federation. This policy was proposed in a remit from the Otago-Southland Association adopted by the annual conference of the federation today. Otago representatives declared that New Zealand had reached a stage at which the produetive capacity of good,« exceeded rnarket requirements and export was essential to retain stability. Th'te federation received a report from the secretary, Mr. D'. I. Macdon ald, on export trade, in which he said that' the council of the federation waib perturbed.at the Government 's laek of a clearly deilned policy on the expoit of New Zealand manufactured products. Not until there was a compiete cliange in the present otficial outlook and a distinct encouragemeiit by the Government, would exports of general manufactnres assume the important place tfiey eould do in the country 's econom^,
