Popular P. And T. Officer Farewelled

At the close of business on Friday members of the Otaki Commercial Association, together witn members of the staff of the Otaki Post and Telegraph Office, assembled to pay tribute to the services of Mr. A. H. Packer, who has resigned his appointment with the department. Mr. W. Mr. Packer,] the speaker added, had at all times ; proved himself a very able, courteous and wiiling helper and adviser, and was held in high esteem. • Mr. McBeth tendered the thanks of the business people to Mr. Packer, adding that it gave him much pleasure to be associated with the preservation. He concluded by extending good wishes to Mr. Packer. The postmaster, Mr. C. G. Anderson, in asking Mr. Packer to accept on behalf of the staff a travelling bag, "stated that he was very sorry to lose Mr. Packer's services, adding that he was "an officer of outstanding ability. .... Musical honours and cheers were given, after which Mr. Packer returned thanks for the very kind gestures, adding that he had at all times found the public of Otaki both kind and courteous. This, he considered, made the job of giving service an easy one. Mr. Packer commences relinquishing leave today.
