Daughter Aids Father From Burning Home

GISBORNE, Oct. 12. Partially overcome hy smoke and unable to reach the main exits, Dr. Harold Weeks was helped to safety by his daughter, Betty, last night when fire completely destroyed their two -storey home at Tolaga Bay. The fire started from an explosion of a kerosene stove, and quickly enveloped the whole buildings Dr. Weeks narrowly escaped serious injuries when he returned to the house to attempt to save some possessions. His daughter broke a vvindow and assisted her father outside. Both were scorched by the heat. The loss included all 'the contents, medical equipment and books. A hucket brigade succeeded in saving a detached building which also caught fire.
