Maori Child Run Over By Lorry

HASTINGS, Oet. 10. A 24-years-old Mauri child was run over aud killed by a truck which was being backed at Morea station on the Hastings-EIsthrope Koad this afternooii. He iv as Renata Pere, son of Mr. Leo Walker Pere, farm labourer. The truck had brought a load oi' shearing gear to Morea station and had stopped at the Pere residence. Some time later it was decided to sliift the truck and Morehu Hadiield, aged 17, did so. He moved the heavy veliicle about ten i'eet and on alighting found the child had been run over by tlite rear wlieel and was dead.
