Russian Earthquake Takes Heavy Toll

Received Sunday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 9. Six thousand injured have been flown out of Ashkhahad, capital oi the Soviet Republic of Turkoman, since the earthquake started Iast Tuesday night, says Moscow radio. Other injured are still heing evacuated. Teheran newspapers put the numher killed at 400 but no oflicial figures are availabie. The radio adds that 1000 doctors and nurses were rushed to Ashkhabad, emergency hospitals established and a temporary water supply organised to replace the smashed water works. The earthquake also severely damaged Meshed and other frontier towns.
