Women's Institute Meets At Poroutawhao
A good attendance of members marked the monthly meeting of the Poroutawhao Women's Institute and the president, Mrs. Carle occupied the chair. The resignation of Mrs. Godinagh was received with regret. Mesdame's Hannam and Hartley were elected delegates to the eouncil meeting at Waikanae this month.. The roll call, hints for removing stains, pfbVed both ehtertaining and instructive. A letter was read from the institute's link in Scotland, expressing appreciation for parcels received. A soap parcel w'as despatched to the link. The speaker for the afternoon was Miss B. Bienkhorn, who gave a delightful talk on her visit to Australia. At the conclusion she was presented with a beautiful shoulder spray, the Work of Mrs. Scott. Mrs. Spiers' competition was won by Mrs. Winiata. The monthly competitions resulted as follows: — Knitted cuffs for Corso: Mrs. Carle 1, Mrs. I. Taylor 2. Vegetable: Mrs. J. Spiers. Bloom: Mrs. A. Scott. Shrub: Mrs. Hannam. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Lingard and Hannam.
