Received Friday, 11.55 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 1. Seeing a man attacking a woman on tlie footpath of a Darlingliurst street a taxi driver chased the man in his veliicle and deliberately rau him down. The man was not seriously injured and was ovei'Dowered by the taxi driver and another man after a struggle. ( The woman had finished her work as an office eleaner and was walking home when she heard a man following her. Suddenly he caught up with her, seized her and threw her screaming to tlie pavement. When the taxi driver turned his lights on the pavement Gie man rau away. The taxi followed him dowii two streets and then ran oyer him, pinning hinl "down. After being subdued he was hande'd over to the police and was later charged with assault. The police have been investigating several reeent assaults on women in the area.
