The Otaki Borough Council, at a meeting this week, agreed to proceed immediately with the laying of a 4-inch water main from Waerenga Road corner to the Green Horseshoe tearooms. The superintendent of the Otaki Volunteer Fire Brigade is to be invited to advise as to the number and position of fireplugs. Stormwater flooding in various parts of the borough has been causing cohsiderable inconvenly ence for a long, time past and with. the idea \ of tackling the problem in earnest,' Cr. H. W. Hakaraia asked if the- levels of the. whole borough could be taken. It was considered that it was a" big job, and one that would take some time, but it was decided to move in the matter/ The. objectiohs by owners to the. exclusion of 'properties from th^i new urban farmlands list are to be dealt with at a special meeting of the counicil on Wednesday, September 29. It was agreed the Memorial Fence project would be an improvement and the assistance sought was granted. It was further explained that the donor of the sections had died before vesting the land. '
