Public Meeting To Discuss Sports Bodies Needs

The scheme to provide ground [acilities lor the ' ever-growing sports bodies were further dis;ussed at the meeting of the Otaki Borough Council on Wednesday night, when it was decided to subnit the schenies to a meeting of all interested organisations for discussion. • It was mehtioned by the A|ayor, Vlr. C. F, Atmore, that the ownsrs of land affected would possibly be unwilling to sell, and attention was called to the fact that the council had been instrumental in bringing about the river protection work which had considerably enhanced the value of the, whole of the properties 9f thp owners on the banks of the river. Cr. H. W. Hakaraia advised that native owners were not opposed to assisting the council should it decide to proceed along the lines recommended by the sub-commit-tee set up to report. . Cr. E. J. Cook considered that a lead. should * come from a public riieeting, and also if a scheme was favoured, indications as to how it was to be • •financed. He moved that a meeting be called. Cr.. GVJ McKinley, "in seconding the proposal to call ,the meeting, said that he saw no reason why, if a scheme was desired, it could not be mqdihed. , It was agreed that the meeting be held at the Council Chambers on Wednesday, September 22.
