Perfect Conditions For Awapuni Trials
Awapuni stables will "^e well represented at Wanganui on Saturday and a team of f our will go through. for the meeting at Carterton. . The conditions were perfect for yesterday's ,. gallops and the highlights of the light programme were provided hy Royal Shar, Deseado, Lord Holland and Meteorina. Royal Shar (V. J. Sellars) and Coronara (B. Wood) worked well over a mile on»the trial grass and the going was fast. They began well but were" not under pressure to run the flrst .five in 1.6 2-5, and they broke 42 for t^he last three to complete in 1.48. Royal Shar is engaged in the Guineas and Sellars will ride him. Lord Holland (A. Midwood) and Deseado (W. L. Aitken) sprinted five in 1.5 and finished smoothly. Meteorina (J. Harris) and Vernon (J* Hely) were partnered over seven furlongs and were home in better than 42 to complete in 1.33 4-5. Meteorina '3 next race is iikely to be at Marton. Eureka (Hely) and Clever Boy (G. R. Tattersall) sprinted half a mile in 52 3-5, La Modelle (W. J. Broughton) and Kentuclcy Flight (Aitken) in 54, and Land Chief (J. Fagan) and Offender (J. Harris) in 55. The Probation filly (Aitken) and Nerisser (Carter) cut three furlongs out in 39 3-5, Battle Strife (Tattersall) just broke 41, Gay Stitches (T. Poad) ran three in 39 1-5, Fox Court (Tattersall) ran three in 39, and Marloch (Mrs. Christmas), Dinero (Aitken) and Serrano (Broughton) ran three in 38 2-5.,
