Luke, city engineer, oi' AVellington, wlio is visiting Britain, saiv! he had been most -impressed by the us(> made of window lioxes and flower plots for city decoration. Bv a carefully organised system of growing and. rejdacjng flowers, it was possible to beautifv city streets and buildings niuch more effectively and permanently than by any display of bunting. Mr. Luke said he would be making recom mendations to the AVellington City Council suggesting that some of these Continenta-1 ideas of decoration might be established in AArellington before tlie Roval visit and thereafter maintained as a permaneut fixture of the city. Mr. Luke is also making reports to the AVellington City Council upon traffie eontroi, methods of street and road t'onstruction, the organisation of publie vecreation areas, and other matters he has investigated during liis tour.
