Beceived Thursday, 10 a.m. PARIS, Sept. 7. M. Robert Schuman's Government was defeated on a confidence vote in the National Assembly tonight by 295 to 289 votes, and M-. Schuman immediate ]y announced . his resignation. Earlier M. Schuman bluntly told the Assembly that he would resign if it refused to give him the emergency economic powers given to the preceding Government. He said: "If you want another Cabinet crisis it's up to you, but reflect a little first because afterwards it will be too late."
