Mrs. McKee, of Featherston*, who has been staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lund, ' of Newtown, retuxned home this morning. Memorial Queen Carnival Public interest is stirring in the queen carnival in aid of the Shannon War Memoral Hall fund next month. All persons interested in selecting and supporting a town queen are invited to attend a meeting in Laurvig's Hall' next Thursday evening at 7.30 p.m. Fresh in Manawatu River Rather unfortunate news to whitebait fishermen" is that the recent rain has caused a slight fresh ; in the Manawatu River, which will stop the run of the 'bait.
