Lighter Rainfall In Levin This Year

Levin did not experience as heavy a rainfall during August as might have been expected after the two severe storms. The total registered for the month was 3.68 inches, 1.89 inches less than for the same month. last year. Rain fell on 13 days in the month. Some fairly -severe 'frosts were * record'ed during the month. The heaviest was on the morning of Monday, August 2, when the thermohieter fell to 24-eight degrees of frost. There were frosts on ten mornings during tne ^nonth. The total rainfall for the first eight months of the year is" also lower than that recorded for the same period in 1947. During tne first two quarters of this year, 30.68 inches fell, while in the same period last year the total was 32.08 inches.
