Scouts Discuss Financing Of Proposed Hall
The monthly meeting of the First Otaki Boy Scouts committee was held on Thursday at the residence of Mrs. L. Housiaux. Mr. F. Rule presided, and there were also present Mesdames E. Smith, H. Gower, J. Meagher, F. Rule, F. Boggs, and L. Housiaux, and Messrs. H. B. Edhouse and N. Hannah. The deputation which had waited on the Otaki Borough Couricil, seeking assistance in the securing of a site for a hall, reported that following the visit to the council, hopes were entertained that a long felt want may soon be fulfhled. Suggestions were forthcoming as to possible ways and means of raising the finance required; the majority being of the opinion that a juvenile queen carnival would solve the problem. Further discussions are to take place with members of the Otaki Band. A programme of events for Youth Day, which is tentatively set down for a Saturday in October, is to be submitted to headquarters, and it is expected that substantial help will l be forthcoming from other scout and allied movements.
