Ship Deserter Fined On Second Offence

WAIROA, Aug. -12. Appearing before Mr. L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., in the ■ Magistrate's Court yesterday, Glenn Harry P'enn was charged with ship desertion and also a breach of probation. ' It was stated by the police that Penn had been dealt with at Dunedin for desertion and "placed -on probatioii, a cpndition being. that he remain on board-the Port Adelaide at Lyttelton. Penn did not do so, leaving that -ship to rejoin his wife and family, axid later being found at Mahia Peninsula. Defendant was fined £10 on each charge, a month being allowed in which to -pay.
