LOCAL SCHOOL REPS. SCORE OVER MANAWATU

The annual fixture piayea between. Horowhenua apd Manawatu primary school representative teams took place at Levin on Saturday, the local fifteen winning by nine points to three. Horowhenua were outweighed by Manawatu, but it soon became evident that the hard-working Horowhenua pack were going to call the tune, which they did all the .way through. * They broke the Manawatu defences time and again as they went down the field, in devastating rushes. The first try 'came from a rush when John Reo scored. Thefe was no conversion. The second try was the result of a fine run by Thompson. When he found his way blocked, he passed out to Reo, who dived over. During the second spell the Horowhenua forwards still led the way, but while pressing hard on one occasicpn, the strong-running Manawatu three-quarters took the ball and ran the full length of the field to score beneath the posts. Stung by • this reverse, Horowhenua immediately resumed the attack, and shortly before the final whistie Evans dived over from a.ruck to make .the final score 9 — 3. The Horowhenua forwards are to be congratulated on their excellent display, while the backs', even under the prevailing conditions, were by ho means disgraced. The display given by these boys augurs well for Horowhenua football.
