Grocers Prefer Mark-up On Percentage Basis
WELLINGTON, August 2. Provision for the percentage instead of ihe unit system of mark-up for goods iu the grocerv trade, will be sought by the New Zealand Master Grocers' Federation, at a public hearing before the Price Tribunal on Wednesday. The president of the Wellingtou Master Grocers' Association, Mr. II. A. Fanselow, said tonight that grocers for sonie time had been seeking perniission to mark-up on a ijercentage basis as in the elothing trade ratlier than by iixeit units as had been the rule for grocenes in the past. It was likely that grocers would also refer to the cost of deliverv in country areas. The case for tlufederation would be presented by tlv; secretary, Mr. A. A. Ivelly, of Auckland, in association with the president, Mr. R. M. Barker,^pf Napier.
